‘Sessuro’ (2021)

Gouache on canvas

40 x 30cm
Inspired by the minimalistic lines of Japanese prints, I have aimed to depict illustrations of human touch and emotion. Using a contrast of vibrant colours, the figures in the painting are dramatized in their position, but somehow portray a calming concept of reliance on each other to exist. The piece’s title comes from the Japanese word for ‘touch’.

‘Kaisha’ (2021)

Acrylic on canvas

40 x 50cm
Continuing on from this series, I’ve chosen to portray one individuals yearn for another’s company, whereas the contrasting figure has found comfort and satisfaction in the independence of being alone. Similarly, the painting’s name ‘Kaisha’ is the Japanese word for ‘company’.
